Bogatikov, Oleg A., D. GM. S. Born in 1934. In 1985, he received <strong>the</strong> A. E. Fersman<br />

Prize in geochemistry and mineralogy for his research. He has been a<br />

corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, and Mining<br />

<strong>Sciences</strong> Department since December 1987. He was elevated <strong>to</strong> academician status<br />

in 1993. Since 1977, he has worked as Head <strong>of</strong> a labora<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Geology <strong>of</strong> Ore<br />

Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry Institute in Moscow.<br />

Gramberg, Igor S., D. GM. S. Born in 1922. Corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Geology,<br />

Geochemistry, Geophysics, and Mining <strong>Sciences</strong> Department since 1979, and,<br />

academician since December 1987. Since 1975, he has been Direc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Affiliated<br />

Research Organization (ARO), Geology and Mineral Resources <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> World<br />

Oceans Institute under <strong>the</strong> Ministry <strong>of</strong> Geology. The institute is subordinate <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Marine Geological-Geophysical Scientific Production Association <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Ministry <strong>of</strong> Geology. Located in St. Petersburg and established in 1947, <strong>the</strong><br />

institute researches <strong>the</strong> terrestrial geology and geophysics <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Arctic and Antarctic<br />

Oceans.<br />

Galimov, E. M., D. Geo. & Min. S. The Geochemistry <strong>of</strong> Carbon Labora<strong>to</strong>ry, under<br />

his direction, in 1973 began studies on <strong>the</strong> his<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> carbon in <strong>the</strong> earth’s crust,<br />

including <strong>the</strong> his<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> life, <strong>the</strong> geochemical role <strong>of</strong> carbon and organic matter, and<br />

oil formation. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Galimov was elected an acasdemician <strong>of</strong> The Geology,<br />

Geophysics, Geochemistry, and Mining <strong>Sciences</strong> Department in 1993.<br />

Dmitrievskii, Ana<strong>to</strong>lii N. Corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Geology, Geophysics,<br />

Dobretsov, Nikolai L., D. GM. S. Born in 1936. Corresponding member since 1984,<br />

and academician <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, and Mining <strong>Sciences</strong><br />

Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> RAN and <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department since December 1987. He<br />

graduated from <strong>the</strong> G. V. Plekhanov Mining Institute in St. Petersburg in 1957. He<br />

worked in <strong>the</strong> geological field party on <strong>the</strong> Altai Geological Expedition <strong>of</strong> 1957-<br />

1960. He joined <strong>the</strong> Geology and Geophysics Institute <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department<br />

in 1960, working in <strong>the</strong> Metamorphic Formation Labora<strong>to</strong>ry from 1972 <strong>to</strong> 1980.<br />

From 1971-72 he worked in <strong>the</strong> chemistry labora<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tec<strong>to</strong>nics and<br />

Geophysics Institute <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National <strong>Academy</strong>. From 1980 <strong>to</strong> 1988, he served as<br />

Direc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Geology Institute <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Buriat Scientific Center in Ulan Ude that<br />

was established in 1973. Since 1988, he has been <strong>the</strong> chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ulan Ude<br />

Scientific Center. In 1988, he was named Direc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Institute <strong>of</strong> Geology and<br />

Geophysics <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Branch <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National <strong>Academy</strong>. He has been<br />

designated a pr<strong>of</strong>essor since 1972. He has chaired <strong>the</strong> commission on<br />

metamorphosis and metamorphogeny <strong>of</strong> mineral deposits and head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Petrography Committee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> national academy. He is now serving as Chairman <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Siberian Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> RAS located in Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk.<br />
