Single-Family Residential-Outer Banks Remote (SFR) DistrictSFRS I N G L E - F A M I L YR E S I D E N T I A LO U T E R B A N K SR E M O T EA. DISTRICT PURPOSE B. LOT PATTERNSThe Single-Family Residential-Outer Banks Remote (SFR) district is established to accommodatevery low density residential development on the portion of the outer banks north of <strong>Currituck</strong>Milepost 13. The district is intended to accommodate limited amounts of development in a mannerthat preserves sensitive natural resources, protects wildlife habitat, recognizes the inherentlimitations on development due to the lack of infrastructure, and seeks to minimize damage fromflooding and catastrophic weather events. The district accommodates single-family detached homeson lots platted prior to April 2, 1989, even in cases where the lot does not meet the minimum lotarea requirement for the district. All development in the district is subject to stormwatermanagement, dune and maritime forest protection, and special exterior lighting limitations. Publicsafety and utility uses are allowed, while commercial, office, and industrial uses are prohibited.C.
