Building Design(1) Customer Entrances(a)Required Entrances(i)(ii)Each side of a building facing a public street shall include atleast one customer entrance, except that buildings shall not berequired to provide common entrances on more than twosides of the structure which face public streets.Nothing in these standards shall require entrances facing sidestreets to be operable.(b)Entrance DesignBuildings shall have clearly-defined, highly visible customer entrancesthat include no less than three of the following design features (seeFigure 5.9.3.C.1, Building Entrances):(i) Canopies/porticos above the entrance;(ii) Roof overhangs above the entrance;(iii) Entry recesses/projections;(iv) Arcades that are physically integrated with the entrance;(v) Raised corniced parapets above the entrance;(vi) Gabled roof forms or arches above the entrance;(vii) Outdoor plaza adjacent to the entrance having seating and aminimum depth of 20 feet;(viii) Display windows that are directly adjacent to the entrance;(ix) Architectural details, such as tile work and moldings, that areintegrated into the building structure and design and are aboveand/or directly adjacent to the entrance;(x) Front porches with a minimum depth of six feet and aminimum length of 25 percent of the front façade (counts astwo features); or(xi) Integral planters or wing walls that incorporate landscapedareas or seating areas.
