ApplicabilityThe variance procedure may be used to seek hardship relief from the dimensional,numerical, and flood damage prevention standards in this <strong>Ordinance</strong>. No variance maybe sought that increases development density (e.g., units per acre) beyond thatallowed in a base zoning district, or increases the number of a particular type of signbeyond that allowed by signage standards. In addition, no variance may be sought thatwould permit a use not allowed in a zoning district, or would have the effect ofallowing a prohibited use or a prohibited sign.C. Variance Review StandardsA variance shall be approved on a finding the applicant demonstrates all of thefollowing standards are met:(1) Strict compliance with the provisions of the <strong>Ordinance</strong> results in noreasonable use of the land;CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE2.62
