Chapter 6: Subdivision and Infrastructure StandardsSECTION 6.4: CONSERVATION SUBDIVISIONSubsection 6.4.5: Delineation of Conservation Areas and <strong>Development</strong> Areas(3) Allowable UsesUses located within a primary conservation area shall be limited to:(a)(b)(c)(d)B. Secondary Conservation AreasUnpaved pedestrian trails, walkways, and boardwalks;Docks and other water-dependent features, as allowed in this<strong>Ordinance</strong>;Above ground and below ground public utilities and associatedeasements, provided no feasible alternative exists; andStreet or driveway crossings, provided such crossings do not violatethis <strong>Ordinance</strong>, or other State or Federal laws.(1) Features to be PreservedIn addition to primary conservation areas, the conservation and developmentareas map shall also identify secondary conservation areas, which shall bepreserved in the following priority order:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)Historic, archeological, and cultural resources;Prime agricultural lands, including existing pastures (whether in use orotherwise);Existing and mature woodland forests, natural fields, and meadows(especially those greater than five acres);Scenic corridors and views; andAreas that could serve to extend existing greenways, trails, parks, orrecreation areas.(2) Amount to be PreservedAll areas occupied by features comprising a secondary conservation area shallbe set aside and reserved as a part of the conservation area in accordancewith the following standards (see Figure 6.4.5, Conservation and <strong>Development</strong>Areas):CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE6.30
