Chapter 4: Use StandardsSECTION 4.2: USE-SPECIFIC STANDARDSSubsection 4.2.5: Industrial Uses(iv)(v)No more than one truck, van, car, or other vehicle, or part ofa vehicle, which is visible from adjacent public streets may bekept on the site; andNo vehicle or trailer which is larger than 8 feet by 32 feet shallbe maintained on-site.(b)Additional Standards in the AG and RMX Districts(i)(ii)(iii)A sign not exceeding six square feet is allowed;On-premise sale of soft crabs or peeler crabs is allowed; and,Open storage must be fenced with opaque fencing a minimumof six feet in height.(2) General Industrial Services and RepairRepair of all machines shall occur within an enclosed building. Temporaryoutdoor storage may be allowed in an outdoor storage area that is no largerthan 25 percent of the buildable area of the lot, located behind or to the sideof the principal structure, and screened in accordance with Section 4.3.3.P,Outdoor Storage.(3) Heavy Equipment, Sales, Rental, and ServiceUses primarily involving the sales, rental, service, or storage of heavyequipment shall comply with the following standards:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)The use shall be located at least 250 feet from any residential district,school, or child care center.No heavy equipment or building displays shall be located within arequired setback or perimeter buffer.The use shall not have more than one heavy equipment display pad,located between the principal building and the street for every 100feet of street frontage.No heavy equipment shall be displayed on the top of a building.All lights and lighting shall be designed and arranged so no source oflight is directly visible from any residential district or existingresidential use.(4) Laundry, Dry Cleaning, and Carpet Cleaning FacilitiesLaundry, dry cleaning, and carpet cleaning facilities shall be within an enclosedbuilding and shall use nonflammable liquids in the cleaning processes that emitno odor, fumes, or steam detectable to normal senses from off the premises.(5) Manufactured Home and Prefabricated Building SalesManufactured home and prefabricated building sales establishments shallcomply with the following requirements:(a)(b)Any lot engaged in the sale of manufactured homes or prefabricatedbuildings shall be at least 40,000 square feet in area and maintain aminimum lot width of at least 125 feet.In no instance shall the number of homes or buildings result in animpervious coverage beyond the applicable maximum lot coverage.CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE4.39
