Chapter 6: Subdivision and Infrastructure StandardsSECTION 6.2: REQUIRED INFRASTRUCTURESubsection 6.2.1: Street StandardsFigure 6.2.1.C, Street Intersections(6) Double FrontageStreets shall be arranged to avoid double frontage lots except where no otheralternative is reasonably practicable or when it is necessary to avoid directaccess of lots onto major arterial streets.(7) New Street Grades(a)(b)New street grades shall conform as closely as practicable to theoriginal topography of the land, subject to all applicable NCDOTrequirements.New street grades shall comply with the drainage and stormwaterrunoff standards in Section 7.3, Stormwater Management.(8) Deceleration Lanes<strong>Development</strong>s with new streets shall:(a)(b)Install a deceleration lane in accordance with NCDOT standards if thesubdivision is for nonresidential development or includes 40 or moreresidential lots and includes access onto major arterial streets (US158, NC 168, NC 34, NC 136, NC 615, and NC 12).Install left turn and deceleration lanes in accordance with NCDOTstandards if the subdivision includes 40 or more residential lots andincludes access onto Tulls Creek Road (SR 1222) or Poplar BranchRoad (SR 1131).CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE6.9
