Chapter 5: <strong>Development</strong> StandardsSECTION 5.1: OFF-STREET PARKING AND LOADINGSubsection 5.1.8: Loading SpacesFigure 5.1.8, Loading Space Configuration(4) Access to a StreetEvery loading area shall be provided with safe and convenient access to astreet, but in no case shall the loading space extend into the required aisle ofthe parking lot. Off-street loading spaces shall be configured to avoid the needfor vehicles to back up within the street right-of-way, to the maximum extentpracticable.(5) Single-Story BuildingsSingle-story office and personal services uses in buildings of 7,500 square feetor more are not required to provide dedicated loading zones, and may beserved by temporary loading spaces.(6) PavingThe ground surface of loading areas shall be paved with a durable, dust free,and hard material, such as surface and seal treatment, bituminous hot mix,Portland cement, concrete, or some comparable material. Such paving shall bemaintained for safe and convenient use at all times.(7) LandscapingLoading areas shall be landscaped in accordance with Section5.2.5, VehicularUse Area Landscaping.(8) Exterior LightingExterior lighting for loading areas shall comply with the standards in Section5.4, Exterior Lighting.CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE5.18
