Chapter 10: Definitions and MeasurementSECTION 10.5: DEFINITIONSLaundry, Dry Cleaning, and Carpet Cleaning FacilityLAUNDRY, DRY CLEANING, AND CARPET CLEANING FACILITYA facility used for cleaning fabrics, textiles, wearing apparel, or articles of any sort byimmersion and agitation, or by immersions only, in water or volatile solvents.LIBRARYA public facility for the use, but not sale, of literary, historical, scientific, musical, artistic, orother reference materials.LIMITED SERVICE AREASPortions of the county designated in the 2006 Land Use Plan as areas where some publicinfrastructure can be accommodated (though the anticipated level of service provision isreduced from that found in a Full Service Area). Given the anticipated presence of publicinfrastructure, these areas are appropriate for more growth and development than wouldanticipated for rural, agricultural, and conservation areas by the Land Use Plan. The locationsof Limited Service Areas are shown in the 2006 Land Use Plan.LIVESTOCKAnimals normally raised on a farm, or as part of commercial agricultural or animal husbandryoperations, or normally used for purposes related to agricultural production or commerce,wildlife farms and animal rehabilitation facilities. Livestock, including animal breeds derivedfrom livestock, shall not be deemed to be pets and may not be maintained as an accessory to aresidential use unless specifically permitted within the <strong>Unified</strong> <strong>Development</strong> <strong>Ordinance</strong>.Livestock shall be defined into two groups as follows:a. Large animals: including horses, mules, donkeys, llamas, cattle, swine, goats, sheep, andsimilar breeds.b. Small animals: including chickens, turkeys, peacocks, and other fowl and similar breeds.LOADING SPACE, OFF-STREETSpace logically and conveniently located for bulk pickups and deliveries, scaled to deliveryvehicles, and not considered as part of the minimum required off-street surface parking.LOTA parcel of land or any combination of several parcels of land occupied or intended to beoccupied by a principal use or structure, together with any accessory structures or uses andsuch accessways, parking area, yards, and open spaces required in these regulations.LOT, EXISTINGSee “Existing Lot (Lot of Record)”.LOT, FLAGAn irregularly shaped lot where the buildable portion of the lot is connected to its streetfrontage by an arm. The arm portion of the lot is not counted in determining minimum lotarea. Further, in cases where a minimum lot width is prescribed, the arm width may be lessthan the minimum required lot width.LOWEST ADJACENT GRADEFor the purposes of Section 7.4, Flood Damage Prevention, the elevation of the ground,sidewalk or patio slab immediately next to the building, or deck support, after completion ofthe building.LOWEST FLOORThe lowest floor of the lowest enclosed area (including basement).
