CHAPTER 6.SUBDIVISION ANDINFRASTRUCTURESTANDARDS6.1. SUBDIVISION STANDARDS6.1.1. Purpose and IntentThe purpose of this section is to establish procedures and standards for the subdivision of landwithin the county. More specifically, this section is intended to:A. Provide for the orderly growth and development of the county;B. Foster the distribution of population and traffic in a manner that will avoid congestionand overcrowding;C. Maintain conditions essential to the public's health, safety, and general welfare;D. Facilitate adequate provision of public services; andE. Facilitate the further re-subdivision of larger tracts into smaller parcels of land.6.1.2. ApplicabilityA. GeneralThe standards in this section are the minimum standards applied to all subdivisions ofland in the county.B. AbrogationThese standards shall not repeal, impair, abrogate, or interfere with any existingeasements, covenants, deed restrictions, agreements, rules, regulations, or permitspreviously adopted or issued in accordance with the law.C. Installation of Required Public ImprovementsUnless subject to a performance guarantee (see Section 6.3, Performance Guarantees),all required public improvements shall be installed prior to the approval of a final plat(see Section 2.4.8.E.4, Final Plat), in accordance with the standards in this <strong>Ordinance</strong>.6.1.3. Subdivision StandardsSubdivisions of land subject to the procedures in Section 2.4.8, Subdivision, and the followingstandards and other requirements:A. TimingThe Board of Commissioners, may in its sole discretion, allocate the total number oflots that may be included on a final plat, based upon adequate public facilities inaccordance with Section 6.6, Adequate Public Facility Standards.CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE6.1
