Chapter 10: Definitions and MeasurementSECTION 10.5: DEFINITIONSDormitoryDORMITORYA building used principally to provide rooms for sleeping accommodations at an educational,public, or religious institution. Common kitchen, sanitary, and social gathering rooms may alsobe provided.DOWNSTREAM BOUNDARY CONDITIONThe resulting condition at the downstream end of a hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, usuallyoccurring at point of substantial change in a drainage network (such as the mouth of a stream),or at such point as the impact on the water surface elevation from the upstream changes beingexamined can be shown to be de minimis.DRAINAGEGeneral terms applied to the removal of surface or resurface water from a given area eitherby gravity via natural means or by systems constructed so as to remove water, and iscommonly applied herein to surface water.DRAINAGE, POSITIVEAn area that has been graded or shaped to prevent pooling of stormwater runoff.DRIPLINEA vertical line that extends from the outermost branches of a tree’s canopy to the groundaround the circumference of the tree.DRIVEWAYA private road or vehicular accessway providing access to parking areas, garages, dwellings,drive-up windows, or other similar features on up to two different lots.DRIVE-THROUGHA facility designed to enable a person to transact business while remaining in a motor vehicle.DRUG AND ALCOHOL TREATMENT FACILITYInpatient facility which provides care for persons with drug and/or alcohol dependencyproblems and which may include outpatient follow-up care to the facility's patients.DRUG STORE OR PHARMACYA freestanding establishment that is engaged in the retail sale of prescription drugs,nonprescription medicines, cosmetics, and related supplies.DWELLING, DUPLEXA single-family dwelling unit attached to one other single-family dwelling unit by a commonvertical wall. Each dwelling unit may be located on its own lot, or both may be located on asingle lot.DWELLING, LIVE/WORKA structure or portion of a structure combining a residential living space for one or morepersons with an integrated work space principally used by one or more of the residents.DWELLING, MANSION APARTMENTThree or more dwelling units located within a single structure designed and constructed toappear as a large single-family detached home. Such structures may have a common entranceor separate entrances to each dwelling unit.DWELLING, MANUFACTURED HOME - CLASS AA manufactured home constructed after July 1, 1976 that meets or exceeds the constructionstandards promulgated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban <strong>Development</strong> that werein effect at the time of construction and that satisfies each of the following additional criteria:CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE10.50
