Chapter 4: Use StandardsSECTION 4.2: USE-SPECIFIC STANDARDSSubsection 4.2.5: Industrial Uses(c)(d)(e)(f)Model manufactured homes and prefabricated buildings shall bepositioned in a uniform, organized fashion, and haphazard placement ofbuildings at varying angles shall be prohibited.No display areas shall be located within required setbacks or requiredlandscaping buffers.Storage of materials related to the construction, transport, orinstallation of homes or prefabricated buildings shall only take placewithin areas enclosed by an opaque fence or wall with a minimumheight of six feet.No signage, flags, or other attention-getting devices shall be mountedto a manufactured home or prefabricated building.C. Manufacturing and Production(1) Manufacturing, HeavyHeavy manufacturing uses shall comply with the following standards:(a)(b)Heavy manufacturing uses shall be located at least 1,000 feet from anyresidential district.A Type D perimeter buffer of at least 25 feet in depth shall beprovided along any boundary with another property not zoned forheavy industry.(2) Manufacturing, LightAll light manufacturing uses shall comply with the following standards:(a) Buffer and setback areas in the side and rear may not be used forparking.(b) Finished products for display and sale shall not occupy more than 40percent of the land area between the principal building and all adjacentstreets.(c) The use shall not generate more noise, smoke, odor, fumes, vibrationsor other disturbance than is characteristic of permitted business useslocated within 1,000 feet in any direction when observed, measured,or monitored from the closest lot line. In cases where suchmonitoring, measuring or observation is required, it shall be theresponsibility of the applicant to provide adequate information to thePlanning Director.D. Warehouse and Freight Movement(1) Outdoor Storage (as a Principal Use)Outdoor storage uses shall comply with the following requirements:(a)(b)(c)No storage shall take place within required setbacks;Outdoor storage shall be screened from all public streets andresidential zoning districts by an opaque fence or wall with a minimumheight of six feet, and a maximum height of ten feet;Stacked or stockpiled material located within 50 feet of a screeningfence or wall shall not exceed the height of the screening fence orwall;CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE4.40
