Chapter 2: AdministrationSECTION 2.2: ADVISORY AND DECISION-MAKING BODIESSubsection 2.2.6: Planning Director(e)(f)(g)(h)(i)(j)(k)(l)(m)(n)(o)(p)Obtain actual elevation (in relation to mean sea level) of the referencelevel (including basement) and all attendant utilities of all new andsubstantially improved structures in accordance with Section 7.4.5,Flood Certificates.Obtain actual elevation (in relation to mean sea level) to which all newand substantially improved structures and public utilities have beenfloodproofed, in accordance with the standards in Section 7.4.5, FloodCertificatesObtain actual elevation (in relation to mean sea level) of all publicutilities in accordance with the provisions of Section 7.4.5, FloodCertificates.When floodproofing is utilized for a particular structure, obtaincertifications from a registered professional engineer or architect inaccordance with Section 7.4.5, Flood Certificates, and Section 7.4.6,Standards.Interpret the exact location of boundaries of the special flood hazardareas, floodways, or non-encroachment areas (for example, wherethere appears to be a conflict between a mapped boundary and actualfield conditions). The person contesting the location of the boundarymay appeal the interpretation in accordance with Section 2.4.17,Appeal.When base flood elevation data has not been provided in accordancewith the standards of Section 7.4, Flood Damage Prevention, obtain,review, and reasonably utilize any base flood elevation data, along withfloodway data or non-encroachment area data available from aFederal, State, or other source, including data developed pursuant toSection 7.4.6 E, Standards for Riverine Floodplains without EstablishedFloodways or Non-encroachment Area, in order to administer thestandards of this ordinance.When base flood elevation data is provided but no floodway or nonencroachmentarea data has been provided in accordance with thestandards of Section 7.4, Flood Damage Prevention, obtain, review,and reasonably utilize any floodway data or non-encroachment areadata available from a Federal, State, or other source in order toadminister the standards of this ordinance.Permanently maintain all records that pertain to the administration ofthe flood damage prevention provisions and make these recordsavailable for public inspection, except for any information protected bythe Privacy Act of 1974.Make on-site inspections of work in progress, issue stop-work orders,or revoke floodplain development permits, as required.Make periodic inspections throughout the special flood hazard area.Maintain a current map repository to include, but not limited to, theFIS Report, FIRM, Letters of Map Change, and other official flood mapsand studies.Coordinate revisions to FIS reports and FIRMs, including Letters ofMap Revision Based on Fill (LOMR-Fs) and Letters of Map Revision(LOMRs).CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE2.10
