Chapter 4: Use StandardsSECTION 4.4: TEMPORARY USE STANDARDSSubsection 4.4.6: Specific Regulations for Certain Temporary Uses and Structures(ii)(iii)Event Sponsored by <strong>County</strong> or StateAny event sponsored in whole or in part by the county orState.Event or Activity at Site Intended for Such Event orActivityAny organized activities conducted at sites or facilities typicallyintended and used for such activities. Examples of suchexempt activities include, but are not limited to, sportingevents such as golf, soccer, softball, and baseball tournamentsconducted on courses or fields intended and used for suchactivities; fairs and carnivals at fairgrounds; wedding servicesconducted at reception halls, or similar facilities; funeralservices conducted at funeral homes or cemeteries; religiousservices, wedding services, and funeral services conducted atreligious institutions.(2) StandardsIn addition to the standards in Section 4.4.6, General Standards for TemporaryUses and Structures, an application for a temporary use permit for a specialevent shall comply with the following standards:(a)(b)False or Material Misleading InformationThe application shall not contain intentionally false or materiallymisleading information.Unreasonable RiskThere is a finding that the special event would not create anunreasonable risk of significant:(i)(ii)(iii)(iv)(v)(vi)Damage to public or private property, beyond normal wearand tear;Injury to persons;Public or private disturbances or nuisances;Unsafe impediments or distractions to, or congestion of,vehicular or pedestrian travel;Additional and impracticable or unduly burdensome police,fire, trash removal, maintenance, or other public servicesdemands; andOther adverse effects upon the public health, safety, orwelfare.(c)(d)Location Cannot be AccommodatedThe special event shall not be of such a nature, size, or duration thatthe particular location requested cannot reasonably accommodate theevent.Time Permitted or Reserved for Other ActivitiesThe special event shall not be at a time and location that has alreadybeen permitted or reserved for other activities.CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE4.72
