Chapter 6: Subdivision and Infrastructure StandardsSECTION 6.2: REQUIRED INFRASTRUCTURESubsection 6.2.4: Fire Protection Standards(b)The Fire Marshal may permit a deviation from these standards basedupon guidance from the Insurance Service Office and existing firefightingcapacity.(4) Configuration(a)(b)Water supply sources shall be provided with the necessary equipmentand connections (e.g., dry hydrants in ponds) to ensure that firefightingequipment can draw water in a safe and efficient manner, asdetermined by the Fire Marshal.Except within the SFR district, a hard-surfaced roadway shall beprovided to the water source as well as a hard-surfaced turnaroundarea of sufficient dimensions to facilitate access by fire-fighting vehicles.(5) Maintenance RequiredThe developer, or any successor in interest, shall be responsible for ensuringthat all water supply sources, access roadways, and other facilities orequipment required by these standards, are maintained.CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE6.22
