Chapter 4: Use StandardsSECTION 4.4: TEMPORARY USE STANDARDSSubsection 4.4.6: Specific Regulations for Certain Temporary Uses and Structures(b)(c)In cases where improved driveways, parking, or loading areas are notpresent, containers shall be located so as to minimize their visibilityfrom streets or adjacent residential areas.Nothing in these standards shall limit the placement of more than onecontainer on a lot or site, however, the maximum allowable durationperiod shall be measured from the placement of the first container,and shall apply to all subsequently placed containers regardless ofwhen they were placed on the site.(3) Additional Requirements(a)(b)(c)Storage containers shall not be replaced on a nonresidential site for aminimum period of six months following removal.A storage container placed on a construction site shall be removedupon expiration of the building permit.Each container shall bear a copy of the temporary use permit issuedfor its placement in a prominent visible location on the outside of thecontainer, and the county shall maintain the right to inspect the permitduring regular business hours for the purposes of determiningcompliance with these standards.H. Temporary TentsTemporary tents shall comply with the following standards.(1) ApplicabilityExcept for the tents listed in 4.4.6.H.2, Exemptions, the standards in thissection shall apply to all tents.(2) ExemptionsThe following temporary tents shall be exempt from the provisions of thissubsection:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)(3) Standards(a)(b)Temporary funeral tents at grave sites;Temporary private event tents as an accessory activity to a residentialdwelling;Temporary recreational camp tents as an accessory activity to aresidential dwelling or within an approved campground;Temporary tents for religious institution/non-profit related functions;andTents erected in conjunction with a special event approved by theBoard of Commissioners.Temporary tents shall only be utilized for temporary purposes andshall not be used as a permanent principal structure or permanentaccessory structure.Temporary tents shall be constructed of fire retardant materials. Alltents shall display a fire retardant certificate and be inspected by thefire marshal, building inspector, or a designee, prior to occupancy.CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE4.70
