Chapter 4: Use StandardsSECTION 4.2: USE-SPECIFIC STANDARDSSubsection 4.2.4: Commercial Uses(c)In the business and mixed-use zoning districts, commercial parking lotsthat are the principal use of the lot shall have no more than 100 feetof street frontage. Screening devices may be placed between theparking lot and street to assist in compliance with this requirement.(2) Parking StructuresA commercial parking structure shall comply with the following standards:(a)(b)Parking shall be the principal use of the parking structure. Parkingspaces may be rented for parking, and retail sales and service andoffice establishments may be located on the ground floor of thestructure. No other business of any kind shall be conducted in thestructure, including repair service, washing, display, or storage ofvehicles or other goods.A commercial parking structure shall not be located contiguous to asingle-family residential zoning district.F. Recreation/Entertainment, Outdoor(1) Arenas, Amphitheaters, and StadiumsArenas, amphitheaters, and stadiums shall comply with the following standards:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)(2) Athletic Facilities(a)Be located at least 500 feet from existing child care centers andresidential zoning districts;Be located on a site or parcel with an area of at least five acres;Be located on a site or parcel that, at the primary point of access, hasat least 200 feet of frontage on a collector or major collector streetLocate access points to minimize traffic to and through local streets inresidential neighborhoods;Provide safety fences, up to eight feet high, as necessary to protect thegeneral health, safety, and welfare.Swimming PoolsSwimming pools that are a principal use of a lot shall comply with thefollowing standards:(i)Location(A) Swimming pools shall be located on a site or parcelwith an area of at least one acre and a width of atleast 200 feet.(B) A swimming pool shall be set back from any lot line atleast three feet plus one foot for each foot of pooldepth.(C) Any pump and filtering equipment and anyappurtenant structures shall be located at least 10 feetfrom any lot line.(ii)Additional StandardsLighting of the pool area shall comply with the exterior lightingstandards in Section 5.4, Exterior Lighting.CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE4.29
