Determining Sign Number, Area, and HeightA. For the purpose of determining the number of signs, a sign shall be considered to be asingle display surface or display device containing elements organized information.When displayed in a random manner without an organized relationship of elements,each element shall be considered as a single sign.B. Chapter 5: <strong>Development</strong> StandardsSECTION 5.12: SIGNAGESubsection 5.12.6: Specific Sign Standards(2) With respect to double faced (back to back) signs, the distance between thebacks of each face of the sign does not exceed three feet.C. Sign area shall be determined by drawing the smallest geometric form to encompassthe extreme limits of the writing, representation, emblem, color, or other display,together with any material or color forming an integral part of the background of thedisplay or used to differentiate the sign from the backdrop or structure against whichit is placed. Sign area shall not include any supporting framework, bracing, ordecorative fence or wall when such fence or wall otherwise meets the UDOregulations and is clearly incidental to the display itself (see Figure 5.12.5, Sign Area).Figure 5.12.5, Sign AreaD. Sign height shall be measured from the top of the highest component of the sign to thehigher of: the natural grade or the street grade of the street to which the sign isoriented.5.12.6. Specific Sign StandardsA.
