Chapter 10: Definitions and MeasurementSECTION 10.5: DEFINITIONSFRONTAGEFRONTAGEThe width in linear feet occupied by each separate business or other use or the width in linearfeet of a lot which fronts on a public street. Each building or lot front shall, for purposes ofsign copy area allowed, be separately calculated.FRONTAGE, BUILDINGThe linear length of only that portion of a building used by an individual tenant on a separatelot or by an individual tenant in a multiple tenant development and which faces a public streetor alley.FUEL OIL/BOTTLED GAS DISTRIBUTORAn establishment that distributes fuel oil or bottled gases such as propone or liquid petroleumfor compensation.FULL CUT-OFF LENSAn artificial outdoor lighting fixture designed to ensure that no light is directly emitted above ahorizontal line parallel to the ground.FULL SERVICE AREAPortions of the county designated in the 2006 Land Use Plan as areas where the full rangepublic infrastructure can and should be provided. Given the anticipated presence of publicinfrastructure, these areas are the most appropriate for increased growth and development, asanticipated by the Land Use Plan. The locations of Full Service Areas are shown in the 2006Land Use Plan.FUNCTIONALLY DEPENDENT FACILITYA facility which cannot be used for its intended purpose unless it is located in close proximityto water, such as a docking or port facility necessary for the loading and unloading of cargo orpassengers, shipbuilding, or ship repair. The term does not include long-term storage,manufacture, sales, or service facilities.FUNERAL HOMEAn establishment that provides human funeral services, including embalming and memorialservices. Crematories are accessory uses to a funeral home.GABLEGARAGEA triangular area of an exterior wall formed by two sloping roofs.An outbuilding or accessory structure for the purpose of parking vehicles.GARAGE OR YARD SALEA sale conducted by an occupant of a residence alone or in cooperation with neighborsconducted for the purpose of selling surplus household items for profit or for charitablepurposes. Such sales are usually conducted from a garage associated with the residence orfrom the yard of the residence. Garage or yard sales may be distinguished from flea markets bythe number of days of sale.GASOLINE SALESBuildings and premises where gasoline, oils and greases, batteries, tires and automobileaccessories may be supplied and dispensed at retail (or in connection with a private operationwhere the general public is excluded from use of facilities).
