Chapter 10: Definitions and MeasurementSECTION 10.5: DEFINITIONSBoard of CommissionersBOARD OF COMMISSIONERSThe Board of Commissioners for <strong>Currituck</strong> <strong>County</strong>, North Carolina.BOAT AND MARINE RENTAL, SALES, AND SERVICEPremises on which new or used boats and other marine vessels are displayed for sale, lease, orrental. On-site repair and service to boats is also provided.BOAT RAMP OR SLIPA location intended to for boaters to place boats into a body of water.BODY PIERCINGAny method of piercing of the human skin of one person by another person with the intentionof inserting any object including but not limited to jewelry. The term body piercing shall alsoinclude any process of marking or disfiguring the skin or other tissue of any person bybranding or scarification but shall not include the piercing of the ear by an ear-piercing gundesigned solely for that purpose; or physician-authorized surgical procedures. This definitionof body piercing includes that process commonly referred to as implantation.BONA FIDE FARMAny tract or tracts of land used for farm purposes, including the production and activitiesrelating or incidental to the production of crops, fruits, vegetables, ornamental and floweringplants, dairy, livestock, poultry, and all other forms of agriculture as defined in Section106‐581.1 of the North Carolina General Statutes. In addition, the production of a nonfarmproduct that the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services recognizes as a"Goodness Grows in North Carolina" product that is produced on a farm subject to aconservation agreement under Section 106‐743.2 of the North Carolina General Statutes is abona fide farm purpose. Any of the following shall constitute sufficient evidence that theproperty is being used for bona fide farm purposes:a. A farm sales tax exemption certificate issued by the Department of Revenue.b. A copy of the property tax listing showing that the property is eligible for participationin the present use value program pursuant to Section 105‐277.3 of the NorthCarolina General Statutes.c. A copy of the farm owner's or operator's Schedule F from the owner's or operator'smost recent federal income tax return.d. A forest management plan.e. A Farm Identification Number issued by the United States Department of AgricultureFarm Service Agency.BOTANICAL GARDENA garden having documented collections of living plants for the purposes of scientific research,conservation, display, or education.BUFFERAn area of natural or planted vegetation adjoining or surrounding a use and unoccupied in itsentirety by any building, structure, paving or portion of such use, for the purposes of screeningand softening the effects of the use, no part of which buffer is used for recreation or parking.BUFFER, PERIMETER LANDSCAPEVegetative material and structures (i.e., walls, fences) that are used to separate uses from eachother as required by this <strong>Ordinance</strong>, including but not limited to the Type A Basic, Type BCURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE10.42
