Visitor Accommodations(1) CharacteristicsThe Visitor Accommodations Use Category includes use types that providelodging units or space for short-term stays of less than 30 days for rent, lease,or interval occupancy. Accessory uses may include pools and otherrecreational facilities, limited storage, restaurants, bars, supportingcommercial, meeting facilities, offices, and parking.(2) ExamplesExample use types include hotels or motels, bed and breakfast inns, andhunting lodges.(3) ExceptionsRooming houses are classified as Group Living.10.4.6. Industrial Use ClassificationA. Extractive Industry(1) CharacteristicsThe Extractive Industry Use Category includes use types involving theextraction, removal, or basic processing of minerals, liquids, gases, or othernatural resources. Such uses also include quarrying, well operation, mining, orother procedures typically done at an extraction site. Accessory uses includeoffices, limited wholesale sales, security or caretakers quarters, outdoorstorage, and maintenance facilities.(2) ExamplesExample use types include quarries, borrow pits, sand and gravel operations.B. Industrial Services(1) CharacteristicsThe Industrial Services Use Category includes use types involving the repair orservicing of industrial, business, or consumer machinery equipment, products,or by-products. Firms that service consumer goods do so by mainly providingcentralized services for separate retail outlets. Contractors and buildingmaintenance services and similar uses perform services off-site. Fewcustomers, especially the general public, come to the site. Accessory activitiesmay include limited retail or wholesale sales, offices, parking, warehousing, andoutdoor storage.(2) ExamplesExample use types include machine shops; tool repair; electric motor repair;repair of scientific or professional instruments; heavy equipment sales, rental,or storage; heavy equipment servicing and repair; building, heating, plumbing,CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE10.30
