no sufrieron dafio.
renovable. He aqti algunas reglas que se deben
tomar en consideraci6n y otras que se deben evitar.
Maykendas Consideraciones que Hater
mismo!
3. Seleccionar vollxjes de generaci6n standard para
conecci6n a algun? red futura. Dar cabida en su
panel de contrt:i para equip0 de sincronizacih
automgtica.
pueda distribuir mhs energia renovable a rnh
consumidores.
2. Certain applications, such as electrolytic
refining of metals, can be done with
seasonal power. In the future, available
power will always be in demand.
3. Certain other alternate energy sources can
be mated with the seasonal hydro to pro-
duce year-round energy. In the Rif Mountains
of Northern Morocco, I did a study where
bio-mass would be burned in low-pressure
steam boilers to produce steam. This steam
would drive a generator 4 months each year.
The generator would be driven by a hydro
unit 8 months a year. Neither the hydro, nor
the bio-mass would have been adequate
alone.
4. Don’t try to get the last bit of efficiency out
of the system at great expense. When on a
run-of-river installation, you will either be
wasting water or short of water anyway.
Remember, until you make it expensive with
dams, the water is free.
The speaker would like to comment that many
pertinent areas related to the subject of site
selection and turbine installation which would
have been covered here have been covered by
other speakers at this workshop. When reading
this paper, kindly also refer to those given by:
Dr. Roger Arndt
“Small/Mini Hydropower. State of the Art,
Technology”
Ken Grover
“Local Manufacturing Opportunities”
Dr. John S. Gladwell
“Hydrologic Studies for Hydropower
Assessment”
All of these subjects complement each other and
reading one paper will leave unsaid many things
each author is depending on others to voice.
Thank You.
