4oz brown sugar<br />

1/4 tsp salt<br />

4 tbsp golden syrup<br />

6oz plain chocolate<br />

4oz chopped walnuts<br />

Method<br />

Melt 3oz of the margarine ina pan and stir in 4oz of the flour with the oats, baking powder, sugar and<br />

salt<br />

Blend well, and press the mixture into the base of a well greased 9-inch square tin.<br />

Bake for 10 minutes in oven (350F mark 4)<br />

Melt the remaining margarine with the syrup and chocolate<br />

Stir in the remaining flour and add the walnuts.<br />

Pour the mixture over the biscuit base and continue to cook for 20-25 minutes.<br />

4oz currants<br />

8oz margarine<br />

pinch of baking soda<br />

pinch of salt<br />

Method<br />

Melt the margarine<br />

Mix the dry ingredients together and add the margarine to form a fairly stiff dough.<br />

Roll out on a lightly floured board, shape as required and bake on a hot griddle until golden.<br />
