1 tsp sweet basil<br />

1 tbsp minced parsley<br />

freshly ground black pepper<br />

1 tbsp imitation bacon bits<br />

Cook the macaroni in boiling, lightly salted water until just tender.<br />

Meanwhile, chop the onion and garlic finely. Sauté in the oil in a saucepan for about 3 minutes.<br />

Add the beans, tomato puree (paste), water and basil. Bring to the boil, then lower heat and simmer<br />

uncovered for about 5 minutes.<br />

Drain the macaroni and add it to the saucepan, along with the parsley, imitation bacon bits. Add black<br />

pepper to taste. Mix well and cook for a couple minutes longer.<br />

Baked Maple Apple Halves<br />

1 soft tart (cooking) apple<br />

2 tsp water<br />

2 tbsp maple syrup<br />

1 tsp margarine<br />

Halve the apple crosswise and core it.<br />
