Status Codes<br />

Recommended Action: For more in<strong>for</strong>mation on a Vault status code, refer to the <strong>NetBackup</strong><br />

<strong>Troubleshooting</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> or to the Activity Monitor’s troubleshooter.<br />

<strong>NetBackup</strong> Status Code: 254<br />

Message: server name not found in the bp.conf file<br />

Explanation: This error should not occur through normal use of <strong>NetBackup</strong>.<br />

Recommended Action: Save all error in<strong>for</strong>mation and call customer support.<br />

<strong>NetBackup</strong> Status Code: 257<br />

Message: cannot create log file<br />

Recommended Action: When a vault session is started, vltrun needs to create log files<br />

in the following directories:<br />

UNIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/vault/sessions/vault_name<br />

<strong>Windows</strong>: install_path\Netbackup\vault\sessions\vault_name<br />

UNIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/vault/sessions/vault_name/sidxxx<br />

<strong>Windows</strong>: install_path \<strong>NetBackup</strong>\vault\sessions\vault_name\sidxxx<br />

(where xxx is the session id)<br />

Ensure that the following directory exists, is writable by root, and that the disk is not<br />

full:<br />

UNIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/vault/sessions/vault_name<br />

<strong>Windows</strong>: install_path\<strong>NetBackup</strong>\vault\sessions\vault_name<br />

<strong>NetBackup</strong> Status Code: 258<br />

Message: a child process failed <strong>for</strong> an unknown reason<br />

Explanation: A child process of the vault job died with an invalid exit status.<br />

Recommended Action: Contact customer support and send appropriate logs.<br />

<strong>NetBackup</strong> Status Code: 263<br />

Message: session id assignment failed<br />

Explanation: The unique identifier to be assigned to the vault session is bad.<br />

Recommended Action: Verify that the session id stored in the session.last file is<br />

valid.<br />
