Recovering the <strong>NetBackup</strong> Catalogs<br />

◆ <strong>NetBackup</strong> Database Manager service<br />

b. Stop and restart the following services so they can read the recovered<br />

configuration:<br />

◆ <strong>NetBackup</strong> Device Manager service<br />

◆ <strong>NetBackup</strong> Volume Manager service<br />

Recover Catalogs From Disk<br />

If you backed up the <strong>NetBackup</strong> catalogs to a disk and that disk is intact, you can recover<br />

the catalogs as follows:<br />

Note If this disk has failed then you must resort to backups of this disk that have gone to<br />

another server. If you have not backed up the <strong>NetBackup</strong> catalogs to another server,<br />

you must use the <strong>NetBackup</strong> Import Images feature to re-add the image<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation to the catalogs. See the <strong>NetBackup</strong> System Administrator’s <strong>Guide</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Windows</strong><br />

<strong>for</strong> instructions.<br />

1. Use the <strong>NetBackup</strong> Activity Monitor, or the Services application in the <strong>Windows</strong><br />

Control Panel, to stop the following services:<br />

◆ <strong>NetBackup</strong> Request Manager service<br />

◆ <strong>NetBackup</strong> Database Manager service<br />

◆ <strong>NetBackup</strong> Device Manager service<br />

◆ <strong>NetBackup</strong> Volume Manager service<br />

2. Execute the bprecover command to recover the catalogs.<br />

For example, the following command recovers the D:\VERITAS\<strong>NetBackup</strong>\db<br />

catalogs from disk path D:\apps\dbbackup on Figure 5.<br />

bprecover -r 1 -dpath D:\apps\dbbackup<br />

Recovering shark:D:\VERITAS\<strong>NetBackup</strong>\db<br />
