Format Optical Status Codes<br />

These status codes appear in exit status and command output <strong>for</strong> the tp<strong>for</strong>mat<br />

command, and in system or debug logs. These codes are also presented by programs that<br />

call tp<strong>for</strong>mat, such as media and device management user interfaces and the vmoprcmd<br />

command.<br />

Format Optical Status Code: 0<br />

Message: Success<br />

Explanation: An optical volume <strong>for</strong>mat operation was successfully completed.<br />

Recommended Action: None.<br />

Format Optical Status Code: 1<br />

Message: tp<strong>for</strong>mat: Invalid usage<br />

Explanation: The <strong>for</strong>mat optical disk command tp<strong>for</strong>mat was executed with improper<br />

options or there is an incompatibility between components or versions of the product.<br />

Recommended Action:<br />

1. Examine command output (if available), debug logs, and system logs <strong>for</strong> a more<br />

detailed message on the error.<br />

a. Enable debug logging by creating the necessary directories/folders. Increase the<br />

level of verbosity by adding the VERBOSE option in the vm.conf file and<br />

restarting the daemons/services, or execute the command’s verbose option, if<br />

available.<br />

b. Retry the operation and examine the logs.<br />

2. Check the tp<strong>for</strong>mat usage statement and compare with the parameters being sent to<br />

start the new process.<br />

3. Verify that all Media Manager binaries are at a compatible version level.<br />

Message: tp<strong>for</strong>mat: Cannot set volume header<br />

Explanation: The <strong>for</strong>mat optical disk command tp<strong>for</strong>mat encountered a system, device,<br />

or media error while trying to write the optical volume header.<br />
