Backup and Restore Functional Description<br />

bpjava-usvc <strong>NetBackup</strong>-Java user server application program. This program<br />

services all requests from the <strong>NetBackup</strong>-Java user and<br />

administration interfaces.<br />

Started By: bpjava-msvc upon successful login through the<br />

Login dialog box that is presented when a <strong>NetBackup</strong>-Java<br />

interface is started.<br />

Stopped By: When the interface program is terminated.<br />

Debug Log: /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bpjava-usvc<br />

bprd On master servers, the request daemon responds to client and<br />

administrative requests <strong>for</strong> the following:<br />

◆ Restores<br />

◆ Backups (scheduled and user-directed)<br />

◆ Archives<br />

◆ List backed up or archived files<br />

◆ Manual immediate backups (started through the <strong>NetBackup</strong><br />

administration interface manual backup option)<br />

Started By: Initiate Request Daemon option in the <strong>NetBackup</strong><br />

administrator interface (also the<br />

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/initbprd command).<br />

Stopped By: Terminate Request Daemon option in the<br />

<strong>NetBackup</strong> administrator interface.<br />

Debug Log: bprd.log on the server.<br />

bplist On UNIX clients, this program communicates with bprd on the<br />

master server when a user browses the database during a restore<br />

operation.<br />

Started By: Starting a search of the image database by using the<br />

client-user interface or executing the<br />

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bplist command on the<br />

client.<br />

Stopped By: Completion of operation<br />

Debug Log: bplist.log on the client.<br />

bprestore On UNIX clients, this program communicates with bprd on the<br />

master server when a user starts a restore.<br />

Started By: Starting restore by using the client-user interface (or<br />

by executing the /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bprestore<br />

command on the client).<br />

Stopped By: Completion of operation<br />

Debug Log: bprestore.log on the client.<br />
