Master Server Disk Recovery<br />

11. Reboot the system.<br />

This replaces any files that were busy during the restore. When the boot process is<br />

complete, the system is restored to the state it was in at the time of the last backup.<br />

The following procedure explains how to per<strong>for</strong>m a total recovery of a <strong>NetBackup</strong> master<br />

server and assumes that <strong>Windows</strong> must be reinstalled. Figure 2 illustrates the procedure.<br />

1. Load OS and reboot<br />

2. Install required device drivers<br />

3. Install <strong>NetBackup</strong><br />

4. Install any <strong>NetBackup</strong> patches<br />

5. Update external mapping files<br />

6. Enable debug logging<br />

7. Stop all <strong>NetBackup</strong> services<br />

except the <strong>NetBackup</strong> Client<br />

service<br />

8. Recover <strong>NetBackup</strong> catalogs:<br />

install_path\<strong>NetBackup</strong>\db<br />

install_path\<strong>NetBackup</strong>\var<br />

install_path\Volmgr\database<br />

9. Start all <strong>NetBackup</strong> services<br />

10. Restore all other files (do not<br />

restore catalogs)<br />

11. Check debug logs and correct<br />

any problems<br />

12. Reboot the system<br />
