Status Codes<br />

<strong>NetBackup</strong> <strong>4.5</strong> <strong>Troubleshooting</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Windows</strong><br />

install_path\Volmgr\database (<strong>Windows</strong>). Display the device configuration to<br />

determine whether or not the database is corrupt, and restore a saved copy of the<br />

databases from catalog backups, or delete them and recreate the device configuration<br />

as needed.<br />

Device Configuration Status Code: 13<br />

Message: Failed reading drive or robot config file<br />

Explanation: A request was made to change or list the device configuration, but an error<br />

was encountered while reading from the device database.<br />

Recommended Action:<br />

1. Examine the daemon debug log and command or interface output <strong>for</strong> a more detailed<br />

message on the error.<br />

a. If not already enabled, enable debug logging by creating the necessary<br />

directories/folders. Increase the level of verbosity by adding the VERBOSE<br />

option in the vm.conf file and restarting the volume daemon / <strong>NetBackup</strong><br />

Volume Manager service, or start vmd with the verbose option.<br />

b. Retry the operation and examine the logs.<br />

2. Examine the permissions and check <strong>for</strong> the existence of the device configuration<br />

database files (ltidevs and robotic_def), located in the directory<br />

/usr/openv/volmgr/database (UNIX) or the folder<br />

install_path\Volmgr\database (<strong>Windows</strong>). Display the device configuration to<br />

determine whether or not the database is corrupt. Restore a saved copy of the<br />

databases from catalog backups, or delete them and recreate the device configuration<br />

as needed.<br />

Device Configuration Status Code: 14<br />

Message: Invalid drive index<br />

Explanation: A request was made to add, update, or list a drive configuration entry, and<br />

the specified drive index was not associated with a configured drive.<br />

Recommended Action:<br />

1. Display the device configuration to obtain the list of valid drives. Avoid making<br />

device configuration changes from multiple sources simultaneously.<br />

2. If more in<strong>for</strong>mation is needed, examine the daemon debug log and command or<br />

interface output <strong>for</strong> a more detailed message on the error.<br />
