Status Codes<br />

Explanation: A requested operation encountered a case where a specified robot type or a<br />

volume’s robot type differed from the type of robot required to per<strong>for</strong>m the operation in<br />

the current configuration.<br />

Recommended Action:<br />

1. Examine command output (if available) and debug logs <strong>for</strong> a more detailed message<br />

on the error, as follows.<br />

a. If not already enabled, enable debug logging by creating the necessary<br />

directories/folders. Increase the level of verbosity by adding the VERBOSE<br />

option in the vm.conf file and restarting the daemons/services, or by executing<br />

the command’s verbose option, if available.<br />

b. Retry the operation and examine the logs.<br />

2. Specify a robot type that supports the volume’s media type.<br />

3. Check the volume database and ensure that the specified robot type agrees with that<br />

<strong>for</strong> all volumes having the specified robot number.<br />

4. If a robot type is required <strong>for</strong> the requested operation, ensure that a robot type has<br />

been specified.<br />

Media Manager Status Code: 13<br />

Message: invalid robot number<br />

Explanation: The robot number was not specified or was not within the allowable range.<br />

Recommended Action: Specify a robot number in the range of 0 to 32767.<br />

Media Manager Status Code: 14<br />

Message: invalid robot host<br />

Explanation: A requested operation encountered a case where the robot control host was<br />

either not specified, not valid <strong>for</strong> the given robot type, not in an acceptable <strong>for</strong>mat, or<br />

exceeded the allowed length of a robot control host name.<br />
