Debug Logs<br />

◆ A process creates one debug log file per day.<br />

On <strong>Windows</strong>, the file names created are of the <strong>for</strong>m:<br />

mmddyy.log<br />

For example:<br />

040198.log<br />

◆ A debug log file is created when the process begins. There<strong>for</strong>e, you must create the<br />

directory <strong>for</strong> a debug log be<strong>for</strong>e the process starts.<br />

To increase the amount of in<strong>for</strong>mation that processes write in the logs, set the Verbose<br />

level to 1 or more on the TroubleShooting tab of the <strong>NetBackup</strong> Client Properties<br />

dialog. To open this dialog box, start the Backup, Archive, and Restore interface and<br />

click <strong>NetBackup</strong> Client Properties on the File menu.<br />

Debug Logs on PC Clients<br />

Debug Logs on <strong>Windows</strong> and Netware Clients<br />

To enable detailed debug logging on Microsoft <strong>Windows</strong> or NetWare target clients, create<br />

the appropriate directories in the following locations:<br />

Note These are the default locations in which to place these directories. You can specify<br />

another location during client installation (see the user guide <strong>for</strong> the respective<br />

client).<br />

◆ <strong>Windows</strong> clients - C:Program Files\VERITAS\<strong>NetBackup</strong>\Logs\<br />

◆ NetWare clients - SYS:\OPENV\NETBACK\LOGS\<br />

The following table lists the debug log directories that apply to the above clients:<br />
