Description<br />

bpsched On master servers, the Scheduler uses policy in<strong>for</strong>mation from<br />

the <strong>NetBackup</strong> configuration databases to determine:<br />

◆ Clients to start and when to start them.<br />

◆ Storage units to use <strong>for</strong> backups and archives.<br />

Started By: bprd <strong>for</strong> the following operations:<br />

◆ User-directed backups and archives<br />

◆ Immediate manual backups (started through the option that<br />

is available in the <strong>NetBackup</strong> administrator interface)<br />

◆ Scheduled automatic incremental or full backups. In this case,<br />

bprd starts the scheduler at intervals determined by the<br />

wakeup interval global attribute.<br />

Stopped By: Completion of all backups that are due.<br />

Debug Log: bpsched.log on the server.<br />

bptm On master and media servers, bptm is the tape-media manager<br />

and is used when the storage unit type is Media Manager. This<br />

program manages transfer of images between the client and the<br />

storage device. It also handles communication between the<br />

backup and Media Manager software. In addition, bptm<br />

manages the <strong>NetBackup</strong> media database and provides<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong> the media list report screen.<br />

Started By: For each backup or restore, bpbrm starts an instance<br />

of bptm on the server that has the storage unit.<br />

Stopped By: Completion of operation.<br />

Debug Log: bptm.log on the server.<br />

BPSRV.EXE On NetWare nontarget clients, this is the program that allows the<br />

system that has the client-user interface to communicate with the<br />

Netware server that is the <strong>NetBackup</strong> client.<br />

Started By: Starting <strong>NetBackup</strong> <strong>for</strong> NetWare.<br />

Stopped By: Exiting the client-user interface.<br />

Debug Log: BPSRV.LOG file in the <strong>NetBackup</strong> LOGS directory<br />

on the client.<br />

BPSYS.EXE On <strong>Windows</strong> NT/2000 clients, this is the <strong>NetBackup</strong> System<br />

Registry Replacement utility.<br />

Started By: <strong>NetBackup</strong> as required.<br />

Stopped By: Completion of operation.<br />
