Status Codes<br />

1. Examine command output (if available), debug logs, and system logs <strong>for</strong> messages<br />

related to the error.<br />

a. Enable debug logging by creating the necessary directories/folders. Increase the<br />

level of verbosity by adding the VERBOSE option in the vm.conf file and<br />

restarting the daemons/services, or execute the command’s verbose option, if<br />

available.<br />

b. Retry the operation and examine the logs.<br />

2. On UNIX servers, gather the output of the ipcs -a command to see what resources<br />

are currently in use.<br />

Device Management Status Code: 15<br />

Message: The drive is DOWN<br />

Explanation: An attempt was made to mount media on a drive or to reserve a shared<br />

drive which has since been logically configured to the DOWN state.<br />

Recommended Action:<br />

1. Examine command output (if available), debug logs, and system logs <strong>for</strong> messages<br />

related to the error.<br />

a. Enable debug logging by creating the necessary directories/folders. Increase the<br />

level of verbosity by adding the VERBOSE option in the vm.conf file and<br />

restarting the daemons/services, or execute the command’s verbose option, if<br />

available.<br />

b. Retry the operation and examine the logs.<br />

2. Check the application log files (such as the bptm log) to see why the drive may have<br />

been configured DOWN.<br />

3. Check the integrity of the drive, drive path, and media.<br />

Device Management Status Code: 16<br />

Message: No mount pending <strong>for</strong> given mount index<br />

Explanation: An attempt was made to retrieve in<strong>for</strong>mation about a pending mount<br />

request, but no such pending mount request was found.<br />

Recommended Action: Use a device monitor interface or consult application logs to see<br />

whether the request has been completed or canceled. Requests to retrieve in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong><br />

pending mount requests are valid only when the mount request is actually pending.<br />
