Summary
This article elaborates on several main topics of the book Jezik i lingvistika (‘Language
and Linguistics’), written by the well-known Serbian linguist Ranko Bugarski. The author’s
main point is that this appears to be one of the most influential books on general
linguistics published in Serbian during the course of several decades - especially as regards
the academic intellectual environment, with reference to university courses, the
establishment of conceptual and cognitive styles, terminologies, and so on.
