diet can signifi cantly lower high cholesterol.” It also notes<br />

that: (1) “Genistein, a powerful natural chemical unique to<br />

<strong>soy</strong>,” may stop the growth <strong>of</strong> cancer cells. (2) The natural<br />

estrogens in <strong>soy</strong>beans may “help alleviate postmenopausal<br />

symptoms.” In Japan, where <strong>soy</strong> is typically eaten daily,<br />

there is no word for “hot fl ashes.”<br />
