Register. Oct. 21. “Anderson Erickson Dairy <strong>of</strong> Des Moines<br />

is the fi rst dairy in the nation to introduce a fat-free <strong>yogurt</strong><br />

fortifi ed with <strong>soy</strong> protein.” A color photo shows a cup <strong>of</strong><br />

this fat free <strong>yogurt</strong>. Next to it is the FDA heart health claim:<br />

“The FDA has determined that 25 grams <strong>of</strong> <strong>soy</strong> protein a<br />

day, as part <strong>of</strong> a lowfat diet, may reduce the risk <strong>of</strong> heart<br />

disease. Soy has also been linked to a decrease in the risk<br />

<strong>of</strong> osteoporosis, kidney disease, menopausal symptoms <strong>and</strong><br />

some cancers.”<br />

product contains 6.25 grams <strong>of</strong> <strong>soy</strong> protein (just enough to<br />

trigger the heart-healthy claim), 50% <strong>of</strong> the RDI for vitamin<br />

C, 25% <strong>of</strong> the RDI for vitamin D, 30% <strong>of</strong> the RDI for<br />

calcium, 25% <strong>of</strong> the RDI for fi ber.<br />

The line comes in fi ve fl avors: Lemon Cream,<br />

Strawberry, Blueberry, Peach, <strong>and</strong> Cranberry Orange.<br />
