The International Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultation
expresses to you and through you to your Church our profoundest
sympathy on the passing of his Holiness Pope Paul VI. We join our
hearts to you in understanding and we pray that his memory will
endure for blessing and bénédiction. The Jewish people throughout the
world will always remember the years of Pope Paul the VI's reign as
a time when a new era began for Catholic-Jewish relations. We will
always be grateful that the Holy Father took the steps necessary to
implement the decrees of Vatican II. Through his understanding he
allowed us to take those steps which can only resuit in greater sensitivity
and love. Thus it is with sadness and sorrow that we of the International
Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultation share in
your bereavement.
