Disciples of Christ around the world share your sorrow in the
unexpected death of His Holiness John Paul I. Our international
dialogue commission had looked forward to greeting him at Rome in
December at our Roman Catholic/Disciples bilateral. We give thanks
for his humble ecumenical ministry which, though brief, was a dramatic
testimony of the Gospel to all Christians and the whole world. We
celebrate his résurrection in Christ. We shall continue to pray for the
Holy Spirit to guide the Roman Catholic Church in the days ahead.
