doléances les plus émues. La lutte menée sans relâche par le Saint-
Père en faveur de la Paix et de la justice sociale restera un exemple
pour l'humanité toute entière.

It is with a deep sadness that I learned of the death of His Holi­
ness Pope Paul VI. His concern for the causes of developing countries
and his contribution to international coopération will endure in our
minds. I wish to convey to you the great sense of loss feit at the
passing of one whose initiative and untiring efforts on behalf of the
world's poor ser ved to inspire our own endeavours.

On behalf of the United Nations Children's Fund and the Inter­
national Year of the Child Secrétariat I wish to express the profound
sorrow we feel at the passing of His Holiness Pope Paul VI. The
world's children, most of ali the least privileged, have lost a sym-
pathetic friend and powerful voice for their interests. His concern
with the cause of development was motivated by the virtues he held
most dear, peace and the brotherhood of mankind. We who share thèse
goals and value the contribution he made, join with the world in
mourning his loss.
