Pontificat sa voix a servi de lumière morale au monde. La mort du
Pape Paul VI, grand réformateur et grand réconciliateur, constitue un
triste événement pour l'humanité. Dans ces circonstances de grande
tristesse le Peuple togolais, son Gouvernement d'Union Nationale le
rassemblement du Peuple togolais, son Gouvernement et moi-même vous
présentons nos condoléances les plus attristées.

The Kingdom of Tonga joins me in mourning the passing of Pope
Paul VI, an outstanding leader given by God to the Church and the
world. His insights into the problems of our times and his deep
concern for people has made him an inspiration to ail men of good will.
We off er our deepest sympathy and pray God that his office may
be filled by a man of equal eminence.
