La notizia della improvvisa scomparsa di Sua Santità Papa Giovanni
Paolo I mi ha profondamente commosso. A nome del Consiglio presiden­
ziale e del Governo della Repubblica popolare ungherese, esprimo il più
sincero cordoglio per la inattesa grave perdita subita dalla Chiesa Cat­
tolica Romana.

It was with the most profound shock and sorrow that I reeeived the
news of the sudden death of Pope John Paul I. On behalf of the
Government and People of Jamaica, I wish to express our deepest
sympathy at his passing. Düring his lifetime, the late Pope was an
outstanding advócate of world peace and a true humanitarian, a man
of the people, humble in his service and untiring in the performance
of his duties. The Government and People of Jamaica deeply mourn
his loss and untimely passing.
