Premier of the Cook Islands Hon. Dr Tom Davis, his cabinet mi­
nisters, government and people mourn the passing of His Holiness
Pope Paul VI and extend their deepest condolences.
Ex INSULIS FIGIENSIBUS :
The people and Government of Fiji have learnt with deep sorrow of
the death of Pope Paul VI. We shall remember him as a great spiritual
leader and an inspiring statesman, dedicated to promoting world peace,
justice and unity. He championed high moral standards in world affairs
against materialistic encroachments. On behalf of the people and Go­
vernment of Fiji, and I personally, I wish to convey our deepest sym­
pathy to the Catholic family on the death of their beloved leader.

Mrs. Marcos and the Filipino people join me in conveying to you our
expressions of profound sorrow upon the sudden demise of the Holy
Father Paul VI.
The passing of His Holiness is a great loss to Christendom and
to all mankind. Aside from being the spiritual leader of hundred s
of millions people His Holiness was an autstanding statesman and
dedicated champion of world peace and the well-being of all peoples,
especially the underprivileged.
The Filipino people will never forget the state visit His Holiness
made in the Philippines in 1970 and his paternal concern for the Filipinos.
To each of us his passing means a great personal loss. We join
the whole Christendom in praying for the eternai repose of his soul.
