The World Alliance of Reformed Churches mourns with you the<br />

passing of His Holiness Pope John Paul and expresses gratitude to<br />

God for his life and ministry. I have asked the Rev. Richmond Smith<br />

to represent the Reformed Alliance at the funeral of His Holiness.<br />

We pray for divine guidance as you gather together to choose his<br />

successor to he the spiritual leader of the faithful.<br />

As one of the Présidents of the World Methodist Council and as<br />

chairman of its ecumenical committee and co-chairman of the Roman<br />

Catholic/Methodist bilaterals, I send you my sympathy and my love<br />

at this time of bereavement over the death of Pope John Paul I.<br />

Methodist people from ali over the world join in pray er for our Roman<br />

Catholic brethren. We thank God for the exemplary life of the Pope<br />

and we pray for the College of Cardinais in the sélection of his successor.<br />
