With deep regret and sadness I reeeived the news of the Pope's
death. On behalf of the people of the Libyan Arab Socialist Jamahyria
and myself I forward my condolences for the loss of a great man who
devoted his whole life for peace and justice.
I pray tò God almighty to give the Christian world a Substitute who
will con tribute to the spiritual progress of his world and its welfare.
