four of a series of five shells were determined to have come from the same - Serb -
origin, the fifth shell appeared to have originated elsewhere. It was the fifth shell that
resulted in civilian casualties. A crater analysis performed by a British and a French
officer placed the first four shells on trajectories pointing to Serb responsibility. They
placed the fatal fifth shell on a different trajectory that suggested it ‘might easily have
been not the Bosnian Serbs but the Bosnia government army’ that was responsible.
A Canadian offiver asserted that ‘anomalies with the fuse’ suggested the fifth shell
had not been fired from a mortar at all, a suspicion reinforced by the absence in this
case - reported by an U.S. official - of the distinct whistle characteristic of an
incoming mortar shell.“ Der offizielle UN-Bericht wird in der Folge - im Gegensatz zu
jenem vom Februar 1994 - auch nicht veröffentlicht. 1402 Faktum ist, die britischen und
französischen Experten werden overruled, zur Seite geschoben, um endlich den
Vorwand nutzen zu können, auf den man gewartet hatte. 1403 Talbott will jetzt
telefonisch von der US-Botschaft in Sarajevo Bestätigung, dass die Granate von den
Serben gekommen war. „By 1 p.m. Washington time the embassy had reported
back: it appeard certain that Bosnian Serbs were responsible.” 1404 Zum dritten Mal
nach Mai 1992 1405 und Februar 1994 werden jetzt die Serben als Täter praesentiert.
