international community wanted to reduce the Bosnian Serbs territory to 49 percent
of the Bosnian soil. So in the Split-agreement all threee sides met with their interests.
The military gains of the Bosnian army can somehow be seen as a kind of
compensation for the lost territory in Eastern Bosnia during July (Srebrenica, Zepa).
The cooperation and coordination between the Muslims and Croats in 1995 still
suffered from the wounds and distrust of their war of 1993 - 94. There was not much
time since then and the distrust still was very strong. The worst was that in the
Muslim-Croatian war people who knew each other very well and had lived together
door by door for many years now killed each other. It really was a war between
neighbours and many of them often knew who had just killed some friend or member
of the family. That was worst. But with the war against the Serbs going on Muslims
and Croats realised that they heavily depend on each other. For the Bosnian
Muslims Croatia somehow is a window and a link to the West and the Croats realised
that they are to small alone and that Serbia is militarily to strong. So they also had
good reasons to join the Muslims.“

„Rest-Yugoslavia and the Republika Srpska cleary were the aggressors in this war.
But despite that we Croatians believe that we need to integrate the Bosnian Serbs
into Bosnia-Herzegovina. Bosnia without the Serbs is impossible. That’s why we
badly need to normalize the relations between the three peoples. An ignoring of the
Serbs would have fatal consequences: The Croats are more flexible in this case than
the Bosnian Muslims. It would be very important that Rest-Yugoslavia would push
the RS towards normal particpation and cooperation in Bosnia.“
