Since 1950 the “Vienna Spinnen helmet” was bought again and the Land’s arm worn on the helmet.
For the first time the th lighte alloy helmet with reflecting stripes in 1954 was recommended in a service
manual.
In 1990 all existing youth groups were equipped with a plastic helmet, which since then must be used
by competitions.
First of all the work with hydraulic rescue equipment- these were used more and more since 1876
made a new construction of rhe helmets necessary. The orofessional fire brigade Salzburg was the first
to be equipped the new Heros/Rosenbauer helmet in 1992.The adaption to the voluntary fire brigades
took place from the year 1993.
The lands fire brigade council announced in July 1996 a provision action for Auer- Dräger- and .
Rosenbauer helmets. Until 2000 all fire brigades were equipped with the new helmey-generation, for
economical reasons first of all with the “Heros II”
The traditional helmet “Vienna type” is used on ceremonial and religious occasions together with
brown uniform and belt. With this the old tradition gets a worthy continuation.
The new fire brigade helmets have in the meantime proved their value with many fires with or without
heavy breathing apparatus and also with all kinds of rescue works and offers the fire fighters a protection,
not known before- also its look helps to give a strong confidence to the professional operation to
people who need help.
