should! Students generally see an increase in scores the second time they take the test. Make
sure you review the mistakes you made the first time around so you don't repeat them the
next time you take the exam. Furthermore, SAT and ACT score reporting options let you
choose which SAT scores get sent to colleges, so if you didn't score as high as you wanted
to on your first try, the colleges you're applying to don't have to see it! But before taking the
SAT or ACT, make sure you've practiced with a Kaplan Practice Test or two (or three or four)!
WHAT ARE SAT SUBJECT TESTS AND AP EXAMS? DO I NEED TO

SAT Subject Tests are designed to measure what you know about specific subjects, including
History, Math, Science, English, and Foreign Languages, and help your strengths stand
out on your college application. SAT Subject Tests are offered throughout the year, typically
taken in the Spring, and are an hour long. Some colleges also use Subject Tests to place
students into appropriate courses. Some schools require one or more Subject Tests, so be
sure to check your target college's website to find out. If you are doing well in an AP class,
consider taking the Subject Test related it. Studying for your AP exams is a great way to
start studying for Subject Tests.
Ta ke the AP exam as soon as you complete your cou rse and have the scores sent to your
college. Look on line or call your target college's Admissions Department to find out how your
AP credits can be applied at your college. Scoring well on an AP exam can earn you college
credit that may allow you to graduate early or place out of an introductory-level course.
