Graduates focused on PKU Companies

Peking University, Beijing, March 7, 2005: The 2005 PKU Recruiting Fair was held at
PKU sports center on March 3rd. Graduates of PKU gathered eagerly applying for
jobs, among them 70% were graduate students, most of whom preferred companies
attached to PKU.
"The fair is mainly for PKUers in the morning, and will be available for graduates from
other universities in the afternoon. There are 153 companies providing more than
1500 positions in the fair." Li Guozhong, Director of PKU Career Consulting
Department said.
Statistics implied that more than 8000 students from PKU and other universities
came and applied for jobs. Only 30% of the undergraduates chose to start their
career life, while the percentage in the graduate students is 70%, the rest of the
students preferred further education. As all the applicants had prominent records, the
companies here were mainly universities, advanced institutions and big companies,
and a diploma higher than Bachelor's Degree was needed for most positions.
During the fair students crowded around the PKU companies such as Founder and
PKU Press. Some students had to throw their resume onto the consulting desk, and
some others even didn't have a chance to talk with the recruiting representatives
before they were squeezed away by students behind. Li Jing, a graduate from PKU
law school said:" the graduates of PKU have a cultural recognition to companies
attached to PKU, and they have the priority to come back to PKU for further
education or training, which other companies cannot provide them with. That's why
the PKU companies are so popular."
